Dear Friends,

We want to share an update on where the Ural Neo project stands today and what’s coming next. A lot is moving forward simultaneously, so this felt like the right moment to take a moment and give you a snapshot of our progress.

Certification Progress

The Ural Neo 500 certification motorcycle is currently in the lab in California undergoing U.S. EPA and CARB emissions and evaporative testing. Baseline testing has been completed, and the bike is now in the mileage-accumulation phase required as part of the certification process. This step takes time, but it’s a major milestone. This is the point where a prototype becomes a production-ready motorcycle. We’re currently tracking toward completing certification in the spring.

Real-World Riding

While lab testing continues, we’re also putting real miles on the bike. Earlier this winter, our technical lead completed a long-distance test ride on a Ural Neo 500 prototype from Seattle to Los Angeles and back, covering nearly 2,800 miles. The goal was to observe long-distance behavior at highway speeds and to collect data to fine-tune engine calibration and service recommendations.

Most of the ride took place on Interstate 5 and confirmed that the Ural Neo 500 is fully capable of operating on U.S. highways. However, we want to point out that the Neo is not designed as a high-speed interstate touring rig. Its chassis, suspension, and powertrain are optimized for city riding, secondary roads, and everyday use - where sidecars really shine.

Final Development Steps

Our engineering team is completing the final phase of development work with our manufacturing partner. This includes additional validation mileage on the updated prototype later this month and early February, and locking in the U.S. production specification.

Immediately after that we will assemble a master pre-production unit that will serve as the reference bike for the start of serial production.

Initial Production Order

We’ve already placed our initial production order for the Ural Neo 500. We’re happy to report that the first U.S.-bound batch is seeing strong interest from dealers, even before final pricing and full technical specifications have been announced. The first production bikes are expected to arrive in the U.S. in late Q2, supporting first customer deliveries shortly thereafter. Deliveries to other markets will follow, including Canada, Japan, and Europe, as logistics and local requirements are finalized.

Demo Bikes Around the World

Sidecars are best understood by riding them. This is why getting people in the saddle remains a core part of the Ural Neo launch. We’re currently shipping demo bikes to key markets simultaneously:

Japan: Two demo units have already arrived to our office in Osaka. They will be shown at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show at the end of March, followed by smaller events and demo rides.

United States: Five demo units are on their way to Woodinville, Washington. These bikes will be used for a U.S. national demo tour running from February through April. We’re finalizing the schedule now and will announce dates and locations as soon as it’s ready.

Europe: One demo unit is scheduled to arrive in Spain in early February, giving EU dealers the opportunity to see, learn, and ride the Ural Neo 500 firsthand.

If you’re interested in riding the Ural Neo 500, you can sign up for demo ride notifications on our website. We’ll reach out as events are scheduled in your area.

What’s Coming Next

We’ll be sharing official photos and technical specifications here on the blog and across our social channels in the coming weeks. Check out a couple of close ups below.

Final pricing will be announced closer to start of the Demo tour, once certification process is in its final stage and logistics is fully locked in.

Looking Ahead

At this stage, certification, real-world testing, production, dealer engagement, and demo planning are all moving forward in parallel. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but the project is very much in motion. We want to thank everyone who has followed the project closely, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their enthusiasm. Your interest and patience mean a great deal to us, and we’ll continue to keep you informed as we’re getting closer to the launch.
